Luke Freeman. Communication: Broadcast and Digital Journalism

In the world of communication and networking, one individual stands out with a passion for reporting. Luke Freeman, a Journalism major, started this professional journey with an interest in connecting with people and capturing moments through the lens of a camera.

Choosing to pursue a degree in Journalism was an easy decision for Luke, based on a desire to specialize in communication and networking. This choice has shaped a career path that goes beyond reporting, but also building connections and relationships.

The appeal of networking became a key part of Luke's academic journey. Accepting the collaborative spirit of journalism, he found joy in the web of relationships that goes beyond the classroom. This passion for networking not only enhanced Luke's education but also laid the groundwork for a career steeped in community engagement.

Among the many projects during Luke's academic time, one is his favorite – the creation of a commercial for Scooters, a record store in Starkville, MS. This project allowed him to see his love for storytelling with his skills in videography.

Luke has a deep appreciation for photography. To him it is more than a hobby, but a way to show expression of different things. Each photograph is a narrative, capturing the spirit of a moment. He believes that through the lens, he can communicate stories that words alone cannot show.

Expressing an interest in expanding his skills, Luke is currently exploring the realm of multimedia articles. Eager to see how text, images, audio, and video work together; seeing how each of these is engaging content that resonates with audiences. This goal reflects his commitment to evolving his journalism skills.

Beyond the world of journalism, Luke has a unique goal – to become an NFL referee. This twist in his career plans shows his willingness to embrace challenges outside of journalism. He pictures himself officiating at the NFL, contributing to the integrity of the game.
